👋 Hi, It’s Iboga Gap
Researcher of Media Community Consciousness
I bridge academic research and lived experience to explore identity, belonging, and community in our digital, interconnected world.
What I do
My work moves between academic research and an embodied inquiry into place, presence, and perception.
I explore how personal and collective identity is shaped – through social media, language, imagery, and narrative.
At the core of my research is the study of communities in an increasingly interconnected world.
At the heart of my work lie questions of belonging and alienation, of what holds people together or sets them apart.
In the digital sphere—especially on social media—boundaries blur, and identities emerge through shifting flows of images, narratives, and interactions, inviting us to ask how we might weave simple, meaningful lives within a complex and hyper-mediated reality.
Sometimes it’s reflections on visual activism on TikTok
Sometimes it’s a personal story of identity, anomaly, and reclaimed belonging
Sometimes it’s conversations about community gardening and permaculture
And sometimes – it’s research insights that emerge in the quiet “in-between” moments of life
